Pedare’s new development brings modern facilities to today’s students.
Excitement is building at Pedare Christian College at Golden Grove as their $2 million major redevelopment project draws to an end. Students are already enjoying some of the new facilities as the diggers leave and the safety bunting is removed.
UC Invest were pleased to assist Pedare with whom they have had an long standing relationship with by providing a loan of $500,000 to enable the exciting renovation project to go ahead. Principal Mike Millard explains;
“Whilst Pedare has had a long‐term relationship with UC Invest this is the first major building project we have embarked on, using funds from UC Invest. The College is grateful for the financial support and ongoing commitment to our programs. The redevelopment has created a ‘new heart’ for the college and has been named “The Wattle Centre”.
The project has replaced an area of the school that was 30 years old and in much need of an upgrade, expanding the schools facilities. Senior students will have access to two new inspiring science laboratories as well as a multipurpose room for students to gather for breaks and study sessions. This room opens out onto a large shaded courtyard that will also be used for school functions.
Recently opened Wattle Café is the new cafeteria and is a favorite for students. It is complete with a commercial kitchen, which will be put to good use for a variety of school events. Pedare Christian College has also commenced an exciting Barista program. Its an opportunity for students to be upskilled with a barista course helping them secure employment when they transition to tertiary studies.
UC Invest Manager Paul Barnett says “It is great to be involved in a project that seeks to make the most of space and resources. Even better one that enhances skills and creates opportunities, enjoyment and pride amongst the people that use it.”
