SAYCO 2014 inspiring our youth

The South Australian Youth Camp Out (SAYCO) is set to kick off this long weekend, starting on October 6th. We spoke with 15 year old Keziah to see what she enjoyed most last year and find out what she is looking forward to most at this years camp out.

SAYCO caters to teenagers like Keziah aged between 12- 17 and provides them with a safe place to have fun whilst exploring and growing their faith.

How many times have you been to SAYCO?
Only once, last year was the first time I attended.

What are you looking forward to most this year?
I am looking forward to the things I enjoyed most last year. The preaching sessions were great and last years camp gave me the opportunity to get to know some of the kids from my church. I now enjoy seeing them regularly at Youth Group.

This years SAYCO will be a good chance to chill out and have fun with my Youth Group friends and meet new friends.

What did you learn at the last camp that has inspired you over the last year?
Ive always had an interest in missionary work so I got a lot out of that workshop; it is something deep in my heart. I really enjoyed the art workshop, and although I didnt do the drama and music workshops my friends said they were great too.

UC Invest look forward to sponsoring this years camp at Woodcroft College. An extensive program has been developed for the camping youth and includes the introduction of some new fun and encouraging workshops.

This years guest speaker is Dave Shepherd, P.E teacher, basketball coach and Chaplin at Concordia College who will no doubt provide great encouragement to the teens.

Along with Keziah, the camp will be enjoyed by Christian and non-Christian youth as well as a mix of denominations who attend with or are paired with local church groups. Youth and leaders alike enjoy the worship, games, activities and workshops providing an environment that nurtures and encourages faith exploration.
